Hakusuikan, Ibusuki and SoJo Spa Club, a Korean Spa resort in America entered into an MOU agreement on November 12th at a conference room of Hakusuikan, Ibusuki.
Hakusuikan provided 120 tons of volcanic sand, yukata (Japanese robe) and even umbrellas along with operating manuals as to how to maintain the sand temperature and guest service protocols. When it is ready, they expect to duplicate the same experience from Hakusuikan. According to both companies, this is the first Hot Sand bath facility in America using the real volcanic sand from Ibusuki, Japan.
SoJo Spa Club opened in January, 2017. This new offering joins SoJo’s state-of-the-art 140,000 square foot facility that bring treatments from spa cultures around the world to a spectacular setting overlooking the Hudson River. Since opening in January of 2017, SoJo has quickly become a popular wellness destination located minutes from New York City, and accessible from Manhattan via car, complimentary shuttle, bus, and ferry.
On this MOU ceremony, Mr. Shimotakehara and Mr. E. Rae Jo, CEO’s of each company issued the following statements: “This unique and fantastic Hot Sand Bath will be a sensational experience to our American guests” by Mr. Jo. “ I hope and trust this brand name of Ibusuki Hakusuikan to become popular in America” by Mr. Shmotakehara.
